This folklore originates from the Indonesian province of North Maluku. It captures the daily toil of a couple on their farm. With no one to care for their baby, they left it by a tree, alone and crying. Birds come to comfort the child. Much to his parents’ sorrow the baby turns into a colourful bird, never to return as their child. (English and Bahasa Indonesia)
